"Operation Green" Terrarium/Recycling Information Booth A Hit With Kids & Adults!

09/18/2006
This young lady is holding her new terrarium that she made at the Alpha Alpha Theta tent during Cecil Community College Unity in the Community Day. As part of the Operation Green service project, AAT made terrariums for the kids at the annual event to teach them about replanting and recycling.
The Terrariums were made in plastic bottles to promote recycling and reusing. To add to the promoting recycling, AAT also found a the PlanetPals.com ,a web site for parents and teachers to use to teach kids about recycling (link below), and gave each child the site address on a free coloring page from the site.
The children had a great time with this activity and some came back to make more for friends and family. Even the parents were enjoying this activity and were making terrariums of their own. AAT also gave the parents information on where to recycle in Cecil County, MD.
